Custom Ubiquiti AI Theta Mount
The Ubiquiti AI Theta camera is pretty neat, but the connection between the camera module and the Theta module can be a pain if you don’t have access above the ceiling (like a drop ceiling or attic).
I ran into this installing one in a room with a second story above it. There was a ceiling cavity, but no practical access from above. To make it work, I had to cut the hole large enough for the AI/Theta module to sit in the cavity, but that made the opening too big for the standard mount to clamp onto.
So I modeled and printed a grommet with oversized “ears” to cover the larger hole and still use the clamp-style mount. Watch the video below for details, or download the 3MF files.
The template can be used to mark the cutout. I recommend printing the grommet on a textured plate to help hide layer lines, but if you’re planning to paint it, it probably won’t matter.
