⚖️ Reviews, Collaborations, and Ad Policy — Ethical Guidelines

🔍 Review Policy

I believe that integrity in reviews requires complete independence from the companies whose products are being reviewed.

What Is a “Review”?

For the purposes of this policy, a review is any examination or analysis of a product or service intended to be interpreted as an objective evaluation. If I make a video or post where the goal is to inform people of a product’s merits, flaws, or performance, that’s a review.

In contrast, “mentions” or “features” are not reviews. These are ads, attempts to draw attention to a product, often in a flattering light. Calling this kind of content a “review” is dishonest. It’s just putting lipstick on a pig.

To maintain this standard of independence, I follow these principles:

In short: if I didn’t buy it with my own money, I won’t review it.

The popular “influencer” mantra:

“XYZ company sent me this for free, but I’m not being paid and they have no editorial control…”

That’s still a paid promotion. The creator was compensated with a product that has real monetary value. If you rely on free products to make content, your objectivity is already compromised, whether you realize it or not.

Even if you disclose it, the relationship itself undermines trust. You’re unlikely to bite the hand that feeds you.

I’m open to advertising your product or service—with full transparency and strict separation from editorial content.

Here are my baseline terms:

Affiliate links can be a useful way to share products I’ve actually used and recommend, but they’re still incentivized.
