VAS SAVER Origins
If you own the VAS 6154A diagnostic dongle, you know its USB port is prone to damage and can fail—turning your expensive tool into nothing more than a paperweight.
The manufacturer neither warrants nor offers paid repair for a damaged USB port. That leaves you with costly third‑party repair or having to discard a diagnostic tool you already paid for. And if you need a replacement dongle, you could face long backorders and have to repurchase the entire (expensive) kit.
The root of the issue is poor design: the USB port is vulnerable to being torn off the PCB substrate - a problem easily triggered by a tech in a rush who doesn’t properly align a wireless module or cable.
With the VAS SAVER, you can protect the fragile USB port on your 6154A dongle by preventing damage before it happens.
The VAS SAVER attaches (semi‑permanently) to your 6154A and holds a replaceable USB pigtail that connects your wireless module or USB cable. This simple, passive design moves the point of connection from the dongle’s port to a far more replaceable pigtail. And since the VAS SAVER is a pass‑through connector with no active circuitry, it doesn’t interfere with the dongle’s normal operation.

Compatible only with the mini‑USB B VAS dongles (6154, 6154B, 6154A). It is not yet compatible with the announced USB‑C VAS dongle.

Each VAS SAVER is made to order - please allow 1–2 weeks manufacturing lead time before it ships. Larger orders (multiple SAVERs or pigtails) may take longer. You will receive order status and expected ship dates by email.

Assembly is required. Please watch the Installation and Usage video and only purchase if comfortable carrying out the procedure.

The VAS SAVER and pigtail carry a 30‑day warranty (from date of receipt) against manufacturing defects.

The pigtail is a wear item/consumable. Its lifespan depends on usage and how frequently you connect and disconnect modules or cables.

The VAS SAVER is not manufactured by or endorsed by the OEM of the VAS 6154A dongle. It is not an OEM‑authorized accessory.

After the 30‑day warranty period, the VAS SAVER is sold as‑is, with no further guarantee or warranty expressed or implied.

Because the pigtail is a consumable item, keeping one or two spares on hand is recommended for quick replacements as needed.
